Sarah Palin is a twit!

I'm not quite as nice as Bert. I tend to throw punches purely on emotion and defensiveness. At first blush I thought that Palin was a strategic choice for McLame -- maybe claim some females votes, make him look a little younger, etc. However, listening to her interview with Charlie Gibson and reading today that she's putting her name above McCain's when speaking of their ticket, I can only describe her as a twit. There's a one in a three chance of McCain dying while in office. That means there's a 33% chance that she could take the Oval Office, take away a woman's right to choose, send my children to war (God's war, that is) and kill more defenseless animals from helicopters. Not to mention, decimate Alaska with her pipelines. Oh, and by the way, have you heard her mention education? She and McLame don't give a hoot about education funding or repealing or reforming No Child Left Behind.

Today I see reports that her honeymoon period is over. Her approval rating has dropped four points (not that any of these are statistically valid) and her disapproval rating rose eight points. She and her geriatric running mate are in Blaine, Minn. today trying to win over Minnesota. They'll also visit a few more split states trying to do the same. Wake up people -- don't fall for her $2,500 designer jackets and $700 glasses and self-righteous abstinence message (like that worked!).

I tend to agree with all of your points. I really disagree with mingling "church" and "state". If I wanted to live in a country whose government is based on a specific religion, I would live in one. I do think that part of the reason they chose her is because of her "rightness". She appeals to the "right" of the Republican party (in addition to trying to mop up the female vote), with McCain appealing more to the centrists. Maybe to get elected Palin was a good choice, but for the Country, it was terrible. If McCain gets elected, I sure as hell hope that he doesn't die!

take a deep breath and count to ten marna.

when ginny told me that macain was going to pick her as running mate i thought she was pulling my leg. not a good choice i thought. after i thought about it for a while i concluded that it was a big gamble but a brilliant pick.

while i am not naive enough to think mcain picked her for anything other than political reasons i guess i am naive enough to hope that this could work in the end.

she is the antithesis of the washington insider. i find that refreshing. she is beholden to no deep pocket special interest group and hasn't been influenced by the washington lobby machine.

i don't necessarily agree with her religious views either but is she not entitled to hold those views just because she is on the presidential ticket? as far as taking away a woman's right to have an abortion, the last time i checked that would require overturning a supreme court decision, something not within the powers of the vice president. roe v wade has survived 8 years of bush jr, 4 years of bush sr, and 8 years of reagan intact. i don't think it is going anywhere soon.

killing wolves by air is not hunting but a means of predator control, i don't necessarily agree with it but it is how the state of alaska deals with the problem. this policy is put in place by the board of game. most appointed by previous governors. we could go back to the darting of wolves by helicopter and sterilizing them i guess but that seems rather assinine to me and a big waste of time and money to appease the PETA folks.

i don't think most alaskan's would mind a few more pipelines crossing the countryside. alaska is the largest domestic energy producer yet we pay the most for our energy. the villages in western and alaska will be paying 8 to 10 dollars a gallon for heating fuel this winter. that's about 40 or 50$ a day just to heat a house. this in an area already economically depressed.the energy rebate will cover about 1 month for these folks. seems a shame when we are sitting on a big pile of natural gas and what goes out now goes right on by those folks. for us folks in the populated part of the state, enstar has applied for a 22% rate hike effective jan 1.

sorry to ramble on, but much of what has been written about palin and alaska in general lately during this media onslaught is full of half truths and outright falsehoods.

i will agree that palin has some warts, but in the end what i like about both her and mcain is that they are not afraid to raise the "bullshit flag" especially within their own party. i think obama has greatness in him but he needs to learn to do that too.

i too, hope that macain can survive 4 years should he get elected.

For me, actually, I have no idea for whom to vote. I'm more confused now than ever before. It may actually come down to the moment when the curtain is pulled.

Hey, Scott. Don't you think Palin is pretty hot, in a school marm kind of way? Don't you dig her glasses?
